After 13-year-old Tilly’s brave fight with osteosarcoma, there was devastating news: cancer had spread to her lungs. Royal Respite provided a family retreat during a rare gap between treatments. Her mother said: "The holiday was a lifesaver on so many levels". Best of all, it put a smile on my daughter’s face; after a year of hell, she could be ‘normal’ and participate in life.

Esther, an active young mother became severely unwell. It became clear that she had a molar pregnancy. A painful 9 months left her fatigued, emotionally drained and unable to go about daily life. Royal Respite arranged for her and her husband to get some respite. She wrote that: "This holiday gave me true respite, I honestly feel I can put it behind me – it turned a page in my life."

When 70-year old Mr Goldberg suffered severe infections, his leg had to be amputated. Recovery felt hopeless – physically and emotionally. Royal Respite provided a respite break including mobility aids and specialist transport. He said: "Thank you for giving us the chance to recharge and supporting us to hope and believe that the insurmountable is possible."
